Heaven and Earth by Arturo Riojas is a science fiction which also depicts the issue of the real world. Arturo has portrayed two planets simultaneously in the plot. One is our earth and the other is Treretum, inhabited by aliens.

Treretumians, the species of the other planet have planned a trip to earth in their spaceship. The community is headed by Egral Egroeg who is in charge of the expedition. He belongs to a particular clan of the planet; there are other clans as well.

Olga (the central character) is a young scientist who works in close association with NASA. She is a lady who gets to the depth of everything in order to find the root cause and not just the outcome of it. She is called for a meeting by a US government agency along with other scientists. She comes across another scientist, Dr. Welch, and his associate Sam during the meeting.

Olga is a lady devoted to the well-being of the human race and so is Dr. Welch. Olga feels that there is something fishy about the government meeting. Olga teams up with Gavilan (her close friend), Dr. Welch and Sam to find out the real truth which has hampered the existence of mankind and is being compromised by the government only in favor of a few powerful ones.

Olga and the team come across an alien named Nivla from Treretum. Nivla is in search of something personal and forms a close companionship with the team.

There are instances related to the famous secret zone in USA, Area 51 in the story.

You need to read this book to know the motive of Nivla and Olga’s team. The earthlings are being betrayed by their rulers here; similarly, there is an insurgency on the other planet. Will the good guys of this planet (Olga and the team) and the other planet (Nivla and his associates) unravel the truth to bring up the solution.

Arturo Riojas has taken up the concern of cadmium poisoning in our planet which is an insidious enemy for the human race. He has also added appendices to every chapter which explains cadmium poisoning.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I found it very enlightening as it gives a very clear perspective on issues which are capable of making the human race vulnerable to epidemic chaos. The writing style is quite interesting and kept me intrigued. The fiction part kept me hooked along with the real issues concerning us.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There were negligible writing errors. A well-written science fiction which also takes up the real concern of our planet. It will entertain an audience of all ages with its story and also give them an insight into some real issues surrounding us.
