Official Review: Robotic Warriors by Caglar Juan Singletary

Caglar Juan Singletary's book, Robotic Warriors, is a science fiction/ fantasy book that focuses on a war between Warbotica and Angelbotica. These were two different groups of robots that came from the planet called Electroboticron, where they were created with organic matter and machines. While warbotica crew included robots like Wartron, O’Megarina, Racirina, Radiowave and Skyspy, Angelbotica members were Sky-Burner, Alinix, Sky-Streak, Moonsearcher and Angelrina.
Lukimis Botman, a fourteen-year-old boy from Orbitron, narrated the story. He joined forces with Angelbots to fight against Warbots, who were known to be evil: they used humans and other robots as slaves to mine silver. However, this was not the main reason for the combat. During the war, Angelbotica robots used weapons such as "photonbazoooka" and electro-guns. On the other hand, Warbots used electric drainers to drain power from the angelbots, who gradually started falling down. With their power drained, would they ever win the war? The fight that really piqued my interest was that of Angelrina and Wartron. It really portrayed how robotic they were: when Wartron was about to kill Angelrina with anti-matter cannon, she turned into automobile land cruiser. What a fantasy! There was also a touch of romance in the story. Skyworthy was in love with Goldirina.
I encountered several issues when reading Robotic Warriors. The first 27 pages of the book merely contained love quotes and weird pictures of women showing tongues; therefore, the story started on page 28. Some of the details in the book did not add up. I was reading about Botman having biological parents, only to find out later that he was also a robot. Again, In page 43, Sky-Streak was described as being programmed like Danica Patrick and converted into an Aerial Porsche Mobile. However, this was not the case in page 47, where the particular robot was said to had been programmed like Rachel Mclish and transformed from a Skycar into a Girloid Robot.
Moreover, while the title of chapter 3 was written on the same line as the last sentence of a previous chapter, that of other chapters started at the same line as the first sentence. For example, "CHAPTER EIGHT Sir Warthor and Megarina are walking down the...." The book could have been neater if each chapter was written in its own page. Again, the format of chapter 9 was different from that of the other chapters. It was written as "NINTH CHAPTER". Then there came chapter 15. The title itself and the first four paragraphs were written in bold. There were also some incomplete sentences separated by blank pages, meaning the continuation of each sentence was on a page after a blank one. To give an example, I noticed this on page 58.
Furthermore, in this book, I found almost every grammar error to have ever existed. There were doubled words, such as than, although, her, for and just; weird phrases at the beginning of some sentences, "RITEMORELYRIGHTLY" and "EPILOGUE INSIDELINESS ISRAELY’SHUA;" Awkwardly written sentences, "Skateboard,Angelrina driving cautiously behind me albeit it comes to pass that while I aerial board a good ways and just after I am feeling comfortable;" and mispelled words, "Mightron furher tellls Alinix on the vieophone." All of these errors made it hard for me to grasp the plot. I had to repeatedly read a sentence to get its meaning.
The description explained the book as having 351 pages. However, when I read it, I only discovered 257 pages. To my utter surprise, the story ended on page 98. What followed after were blank pages, Bible verses and weird phrases like 'Aerobics=3600counts Cardioa=300COUNTS Liftsdeads Romanianstyle=3x190,6x185,7x13at135Pounds Seducers.' As I went further down the pages, I found the exact story I had just read. It was in page 184 and ended seventy pages later, which were then followed by three blank pages.
In short, this book was neither edited nor proofread. It even seemed the author himself did not self-edit it. It is more like a draft. As a result, I am awarding Robotic Warriors 1 out of 4 stars. I definitely would not recommend the book to anyone until it has gone through a round of editing.
