Alex Fine is an 18-year-old living in an orphanage in Los Angeles, California. After a few unsuccessful fosters and adoptions when he was younger, he instead focused his attention to his education and is looking forward to leaving soon to attend Stanford. The orphanage has just obtained a computer lab and Alex finds himself inexplicably drawn to the technology. After perusing the web for hours the screen goes blank and upon grabbing the network cable finds himself somehow transported to the location on the last webpage he had opened, Hawaii.

How did Alex travel and end up coming out of another network cable to the exact location he had last researched? How has he reappeared unharmed and unchanged? Is he the only one with this unexplained gift? Better yet, how is he going to return to the orphanage or even to the life he once knew?

His first travel has opened doors to the world that he never thought he’d see or experience. This discovery has transformed him from a naïve teenager to a young man with the world and all its knowledge and data literally at his fingertips.

Through his travels he gains more of an understanding of his capabilities and is able to do some humanitarian good with his gifts. However, at some point he starts to lose himself within his expeditions and encounters unforeseen hardship. Not only has the world become open to him but so has the lessons of love, heartbreak , loss, and fear.

Superhighway author Alex Fayman weaves a story that captures your imagination from the very first chapter. I found the book to be a very easy read in that Fayman’s detailed-oriented story-telling piques interest and leaves you asking the questions, what comes next. I would give this book a rating of 4 out of 4; I could not put it down and had to find out where the character goes next, what he does, and can he unravel the mystery of his gift. The story ends with a cliff hanger and this trilogy continues in subsequent books.
