In Pursuit of The Pale Prince
By Mark Wallace

I definitely had a wonderful time reading this fiction/ fantasy book from the beginning to the end as it was told in a timeless form. I never had much fun reading an adventure book in a long time until I propped open its pages.

In Pursuit of The Pale Prince by Mark Wallace brought my imagination to the Era of the Vikings, stone houses, and simple way of living. I commend the writer because he was able to capture the reader’s attention and imagination with his story and with the way he wrote the book. It was in a straightforward form, no flowery words but it didn’t fail to contain descriptive details which made it easy for readers to invent the scenarios in their heads. It is not tiresome to read.

The story revolved around the transformation of our young protagonist, Arestus, who was faced with lots of trials at a young age. Losing his father and mother, he now had to travel to faraway lands to fulfil the unfinished business of his father and to prevent his uncle from starting a war between the Southwen and the Northern realms. Our young Arestus, from being a scared little boy in the beginning of the book, metamorphosed into a brave young warrior with the help of some friends he met along the way. Let us join him in his mission as they try to save lives and kingdoms.

I like the character development in this story. It is indeed a fan fiction but we can learn a lesson or two from it. We all are afraid to go out of our cocoon at times because we are scared of what lies ahead. However, we oftentimes need to break free from the things that are preventing us from growing, just like our young Arestus.

There were a few errors in the book that needs proofreading nevertheless they didn’t cause any major distraction as I read through it. Some of the errors were typographical, some just needed a little changing. The positive comments I have for the book were enough to make the small mistakes unnoticeable.

This fiction/ fantasy book is a must read for all readers who want to break free from their usual type of books and even for young readers as the narrative is easy to follow and is not a tedious read. It made me remember the movie, How To Train Your Dragon. I give this book a score of 4 out of 4 stars because it is beautifully written and it is very entertaining.
