The book titled Roan by E. R. Barr talks about unique and attractive story. The story talks about a young man called Conor Archer who lived with his mother in Chicago and worked at the bar. He did not have a bright life but he was happy and satisfied. He cared of his mother well during her illness. Her mother told him to go to his aunt if anything occurred to her. The actual adventure starts when a mysterious stranger visited him at the bar. The stranger monitored him from the bar and hurt him nearby the riverbank.
Conor still fights the diseases to reach the small town called Tinkers Grove. This is the town where his mother told him to go so to be cared by his Aunt Emily. In this town, he also discovered many secrets from the past that collide with his future. Piasa (the river demon) totally recognizes who is Conor and what is about his future. The demon will use Caitness McNabb to keep conor away from achieving the prophecies that were mentioned about him.
Conor struggled to identify himself and to know his fate. He faced a mysterious and dark world. The story revolves around the everlasting fight between good and evil and the fight between light and dark. The story was exciting and very impressive for me. Readers who interested in reading something different about demons, secrets, mystery, fiction and myths will enjoy reading this fiction story. I liked very much the style of writing. The author tells the story in depth with terrifying details, but attractive at the same time.
The writer has a talent in building characters of story and makes them in permanent development to raise the excitation of the reader throughout the pages. He succeeded in describing the events vividly that makes the reader interact with the characters, for example, when he painted a vivid picture of the river and the heavy mist above it. I like the way of describing the scenes and characters. The author makes the reader keen on knowing what will happen next, especially in describing the creation monster who apparently walks through the river of Wisconsin.
The book deals with an important aspect that how our lives, our beliefs and everything we loved can change in a moment. Actually, adapting to changes in self-related things is not easy. When you read a part of it, you find yourself want to read more to discover how the end of the story will be. So, I would absolutely recommend reading this wonderful book and rate it with 4 out of 4 star rating.
