I think it depends on the individual. Some people have the time and dedication to things like yoga and meditation and that is all they need. For others, it may not work. Some have tried every natural option out there and medication is what works for them. Some people just need medication and that works for them. I think it is a personal decision for people.

I agree. For some people, the stress and anxiety are just temporary. For others, it is a chemical imbalance in the brain. It's very similar to diabetes in that many have type 1 (which they are born with) and others have type 2 (which develops as they get older). With type 2, diet and exercise may help manage/correct the issue, but with type 1 you have to take insulin for your entire life.

I don't think natural remedies can completely replace the need for medications. I think they can certainly help prevent some lillnesses and conditions that would require medication, and can assist with treating most conditions. However, I think there are certain scenarios where medication is required.

By the word natural, do you mean not synthetic? There are plenty of so called natural options that are used, which even illegal, federally speaking. I support holistic approach without a lot of medications, natural or synthetic.

People respond differently to medications of any origin. When someone is experiencing acute anxiety (perhaps to such a degree that their life is at risk) then they will need immediate support to alleviate this. Sometimes people are unable to respond to interventions like one of the many talking therapies, breathing exercises etc because they are completely overwhelmed by anxiety. Perhaps the anxiety has been triggered by a devastating event or a reminder of such an event. Each case should be assessed on an individual basis but in my opinion there can be a strong argument for the short term use of prescribed medication. If the use of this is carefully monitored and other methods (including therapies and natural remedies) are introduced when someone is calmer and more receptive then it can save someone's life and misuse or addiction problems can be avoided.

I know from experience what stress can do to cause diseases or make it worse. So I do believe that natural remedies can take the place of medication or work along with it. It really just depends on the person and what the problem is. I wouldn’t say that traditional medicine doesn’t have its place in society. It just depends on what you are willing to try.

This can't be generalized. alternative solutions help a lot. but some cases would definitely require regular medications.

This is a good question but I think the answer depends on the individuals stress and anxiety level. In some minor cases natural remedies could be enough to get the person stable but in very severe cases on may need to go for other higher medical options. It is best to seek the advise of an expert before going for either traditional, natural or other advanced remedies.

From personal experience, I have been on many anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs for many years. It wasn't until I stopped drinking alcohol, quit my stressful job, and started a new career doing what I love that I was able to get off all the medications. At one point I did really need the medications; however, I found that removing the stressor (my job) and living within my means instead of above my means fixed the problem. I do not believe it is a good idea to take mind-altering medications daily. I really enjoyed this book.
