My favourite character was Kalayla. I loved her bluntness. She was not afraid to say exactly how she felt although she had a lot to learn when it came to manners and showing respect. She had a very strong personality for someone as young as she was.

My favourite character was Carlotta because she was the only character who took a stand for herself when it was needed and she, even after so many years, never left Lena's side. She was always ready to help, animals as well as humans. She was a really strong and independent character.

Oh, I totally agree with you. Kalayla and Lena had a unique and adorable relationship. I loved their cute and short arguments.

Definitely has to be Kalayla herself. Precocious young child characters can so easily become irritating or unconvincing, but I found her chapters to carry so much energy and personality, and she was often quite funny. It's very easy to care about her story

Carlotta, hands down. She's feisty and a great cook. She's always there for Lena and everyone deserves a best friend like her.

My favourite is definitely Kalayla. Her witty and fiesty personality is what I liked the most, and how she is different from kids her age. She is mature and responsible. At time it was hard to believe that she is an 11 year old kid.

I loved Kalayla the most. I especially loved the way her mind worked. It'd be easy to forget she's only eleven because of her reasonings.

My favourite character was Kalayla. I love her personality and I think I can see myself in her. Her sense of observation and keenness is attractive and brought out a lot of information on the characters.

My favorite character was Kalayla as she was so funny and confident. She also did not hesitate to voice her opinion when she thinks she deserves to be paid as she comes up with sarcastic responses that convince the old woman.

It's pretty much the same for me. I loved Kalayla for her headstrong attitude and the way she dealt with what life gave her. I loved Lena because she was capable of dealing with both Kalayla and Maureen in whatever way she had to.

Kalayla for me always. I can understand her character very well and connect with her instantly.

Lena was my favorite character. It takes strength to go through so much in life and still be a caring person. She doesn't let her pass hurt define who she is today

Oh, this is a good one. I totally loved the sassy, know-it-all attitude of Kaylayla and no doubt she has my vote as the best character in the book. Other characters also caught my attention but Kaylayla was the best in my view.

My favourite character is Lena. Despite the traumatic events in her past, she faces life like a warrior and is very kind and compassionate.

Lena was definitely my favorite character in the book. Her no-nonsense attitude coupled with her constant drops of wisdom made me love her character.
