Ok. The author discussed quite a number of contemporary social issues and I'll mention racism, sexual abuse, parenting, psychological health, effects of environment, teenage acts, and others.

The issues that stood out to me were racism, sexuality, gender equality, inter-racial marriage, and domestic violence.

Different social issues are being discussed or shown in the book, Kalayla. We get to see the topic of racism, violence, physical abuse, and so much more in this book. It covers and addresses so many topics.

The author was not afraid to deal with social issues such as racism, domestic abuse, emotional abuse, trauma, and many more. The author was particular about highlighting the difficulty of parenthood. While parents want the best for their children, certain decisions might not be the best when they do not make an effort to understand their children.

To me, I would say there are some current issues that have been delved into by the author. For instance, just to name a few, there is racism, sexual abuse, etcetera.
In addition I would add perental upbringing, motherhood, childhood and women development.

The obvious are there, such as racism and sexual abuse. Additionally, poverty, mental illness, child care, elder care, and housing issues are there.
