The ending was beautiful for me. Everyone was happy and content with where they were in life and that was enough.

I liked the ending since most of the characters achieved happiness. Many concerns were satisfactorily resolved in the end, and I believe each character made significant growth.
Books are a unique form of accessible magic. Reading is required for those who wish to rise above the mundane. If you dislike reading, it's most likely because you haven't found the right book.

I would have liked to read about the development of the relationship between Kalayla and the relatives of her mother's family. Otherwise, I think that the author captured all the aspects that interested and captivated me.

I agree. I think the ending was perfect. We were let into the every day lives of the characters and I was happy that it ended the way it did, like any other day in their lives. The joy of that community in essence did not end and I loved that.

The ending tied all loose ends in my opinion. I believe Kalayla and her mom will have a much better relationship after all they've gone through together, and Lena will also find time to spend more time with her grandchildren. The story ended happily for me

I think the author could have demonstrated we'll the way Maureen's parents asked for forgiveness. I did not find that satisfying. I, however, think that was the author's way of saying, " in life, problems are not always solved swiftly."

with the ending which I can not pinpoint. Maybe it would be better if Maureen's mother was there. Greater impact than just baking a cake but not being there. But maybe she was sick or something. Or if we knew why she stayed behind with her other daughter at home. Is she sick? Or is she too ashamed of what she did?
I think Maureen's mom just couldn't bring herself to come. She struck me as a very prideful woman, and sometimes that can be an impossible hurdle to jump over, especially for this woman who felt justified in disowning her daughter. She's very selfish and clearly still working through her prejudice, but her making the cake was an amazing first step towards reconciliation. Maybe the ending would have been sweeter if her mom had shown up in person, but I thought it was already very sweet and symbolic.

Exactly my thoughts. Thanks for such a brilliant comment.

I loved the ending! It was not one of those stories that keeps you hanging. Who said happy endings are not the best?

I think what was left unresolved was the relationship between Maureen and her mother. The relationship between Maureen and Rico. The author could have included more on that.

Personally, I liked the fact that even though most of the issues were resolved, the book left room for more development in the characters making them seem much more realistic, especially the relationship between Maureen and her mother and Lena and her sons.

I yearned so badly for the ending. Because it was where everything wwaswrapped up I was so glad my expectations weren't cut short.

I feel like the ending was an open one. The reader could interpret it how they saw fit and it left room for a sequel. I definitely would love to read about how Maureen's family started to make amends for how poorly they treated her. It was a bit underwhelming, I expected more but it was also okay because it kept on with the initial ambiance of the book

I think the ending of Kalayla is perfect. I mean it's something I can see happening in a real world and not just in a book. It's the best happy ever after anyone can get.
