Cozy Mystery/Crime Book Help
Crime: It's a genre that presents crimes, the investigation to the crimes, criminals, and their motives in a fictional way. Most times, suspense and mystery are woven into the book's plot.
Crime book suggestions:
- Millennium series by Stieg Larsson
- Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
- Sherlock Holmes series by Arthur Conan Doyle
Cozy mystery: This is a subgenre of crime, where sex and violence are toned down or presented in a light/humorous manner. The crime at hand is usually taken place in a small intimate community. These books are considered to be "fun reads" and usually feature an amateur sleuth.
Cozy Mystery book suggestions:
- Miss Marple series by Agatha Christie
- Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley
- Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris
- Hannah Swensen series by Joanne Fluke
What will you read this month?

Right now I am re-reading Sherlock Holmes' stories and enjoy them.

I plan on going the cozy route for this month’s discussion and ordered the first book in the Cat in the Stacks series by Miranda James, Murder Past Due.
I enjoy cozy mysteries with animal tie-ins.
I just received an email saying it’s back ordered and will take a couple more days to ship, so hopefully it arrives soon!

I have not read any of Sherlock Holmes’ stories, which seems crazy when I think about it, because I love crime solving mysteries so much. I need to make a conscious effort to delve into some of those stories! Where would you suggest starting?

I suggest starting from A Study in Scarlet, the first book, as it introduces the two protagonists. The stories are great!

For Agatha Christie, I read And Then There Were None, which kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the book.
