The stone are significant. The female servant who worked in the palace in Hillport knows about them. They are the same stones that Rowan and Galen bought. However, I doubt whether Meldorath ordered the delivery. It must have been the mage at the mines who delivered them.

Meldorath's reaction when he saw the rock was very difficult to resolve. I'm unsure if he have initial knowledge about the rock or he doesn't. Nevertheless, since Beverly mentioned that the rock isn't easy to find in Caromentis, much more in the Cosmos, I think it's significant especially in things that have to do with Caromentis.
