Reading the comments and now I can't wait to read the rest of the books! Yes lord Eldus’ death felt unnecessary to me as well but seems it is relevant to what happens in the books.

Yeah. It just kind of reminded me of the first season of game of thrones. I don't know why but I actually expected an ending like that, alongside the escape of Meldorath. I'd love to see the justification for it in the next volumes.

Yes, I understand what you mean. I was deeply hurt by the demise of Lord Alderman. He had potential and a whole lot of story to tell in this novel, in my opinion, I would say.

Yeah, that ending was so sudden. I was sincerely hoping that some miracle would happen where the whole family would escape. Well, I believe the author has better plans in future books.

Yes, it's unfortunate that a good man died. Good people are usually meant to die in most stories. Even so, it would have been nice if he was still alive.

The author developed such a wonderful and good character, Eldus, just to destroy him in the most brutal of ways at the end of the book. However, I noticed that Marshus, his son, was able to get away so this would be a huge factor in the rest of the series.

The death of lord Eldus was unexpected for me, I felt bad but the story must go on.

Yes, his death was painful a lot, but I know his death would be a build into a greater character in his son. The book itself has a lot of dark undertone which doesn't actually make any character Sade from death itself. Eldus actually has a lot of potential if he had survived the attacked.
