The fact that Rowan risked his life to make sure Galen was found and safely out from the kingdom of the Princes is worth my trusting him over the Mayor. Secondly, the fact that he has access to the answers that Galen needs to navigate his new life is worth risking to trust him.

Of course, the Mayor should also be given some level of trust. That way, the both men will serve Galen's advantage.

I guess the Mayor seemed straightforward with his decisions. But I don't really trust that Rowan. He seems to have some ulterior motives

Given a chioce between the two, I'd choose Rowan. Since Galen's uncle trusted him enough to make him executor, I believe he must have had his reasons.

Certainly, they both helped Galen: finding him, informing him about his inheritance, getting settled in the new place, teaching him the craft. Rowan seemed to be hiding something. I would accept his help, but wouldn't trust him until I know for sure that his secret does not concern me. As a newcomer I would be vary to trust anyone so easily.

Rowan seemed really suspicious at first. I wondered why he tried so hard to find Galen and was it all just for the money. He also seemed hesitant about leaving Galen and decided to stick around without giving us a good reason for it.

On the other hand, the mayor seemed friendly and welcoming, but we didn't know much about him. His dislike of Rowan was because of personal reasons and the mayor's daughter, which was quite amusing. I think the writer did a good job of making us suspect Rowan at the beginning. I thought he would betray Galen at some point.

Rowan doesn't seem all too trustworthy and although the mayor and Galen had their conflict, I would stick with trusting the mayor.

Initially I doubted Rowan. He seemed too friendly in a short time. My doubts strengthened when the mayor didn't like him. But in the later pages, it was revealed that Rowan had an affair with the mayor's daughter. That explained his hostility. I think the author has included this scene to establish Rowan's playboy ways. I believed Rowan as the story went on.

Rowan comes across as a self-serving and greedy individual. He was rewarded heftily by Galen's uncle but still wants more! He has hidden motives. I'd take my chances with the mayor.

Rowan is a very likable character and a good friend to Galen he helped him a great deal, although the Mayor is such an honorable man given his authority to lead, and still being so humble is a positive thing, so I would surely trust the Mayor.

The mayor. He is a lot more friendly than Rowan, and, for lack of better words, not as shady. Rowan seems to have an ulterior motive-- or multiple, and is disrespectful and rude towards Galen.

I think Rowan has an ulterior motive. His character is questionable. There is not much incentive to trust the Mayor, but I think the Mayor can be given the benefit of the doubt.

I think I would trust Rowan, because he is the one who went through all the difficulties of trying to bring Galen to Voulhire. He could have easily given up, but he didn't.

At the beginning, Rowan had this mysterious aura around him that had me doubt his intentions towards Galen, but then everything became clearer as Rowan was so determind to help him .

This is a really hard question. I think I would trust the town mayor more than Rowan. Rowan seems to hide something from his past.

I don't trust Rowan at all. He seems to always have ulterior motives, and he is never completely honest with Galen. Although we saw only a little of the Mayor, he seems like an upstanding guy and I would trust him more than I would trust Rowan.
