I also felt there was too much dancing in this novel. With the advancement of their science/magic, I really thought they'd find a better form of entertainment.

While reading this novel, I didn't put much focus on the context of dancing and I missed it holding such a great significance.

I did wondered why they danced, because shouldn’t you reserve energy so to defeat your enemies? But they won anyways, I think dancing had a spiritual meaning behind it.

I think Tysz personally has a thing for dancing, so uses it as a way of bringing out probably culture and traditions, and also reality, in his book. It brings a form of liveliness.

I would also like to know the secret behind these dances, I did find it to be ritualistic due to the things that took place during the dancing.

The prominence of dancing intrigued me as well. Tysz underscores the cultural significance of dance, in my opinion, by including it into significant occasions. Dance also seems to be a unifying force, since both Riva Rohavi and the aristocracy seemed to cherish it in the midst of a protracted struggle.

I think the author enjoys dancing as a hobby and that he likes portraying himself in his books.
