But he ended up as the person who destroyed Virko and became helpless, making me feel really sorry for him. Kayden was waiting to see his unborn child. As a slanted person, he tried to keep Peter close to himself at the same time. In the end, he lost his child, wife and boyfriend on the same day and had to watch his hometown being destroyed. Who did you pity most?
Well, I'd say Demetrius. :D
I liked Demetrius, but I found Kayden a little off-putting. Regardless, this is the one thing I disliked about this series. In the first part, Eldus and his entire family (except his son of course) are butchered in the most atrocious way possible. Then in the next Kayden loses his family, lucky to be alive himself. I couldn't continue the series past the third book.

Kayden ofcourse has suffered an irreparable loss- his family, hometown, lover; and all that right at the time when was expecting his life to finally be at peace. Being dragged back into an even deeper misery I would say I feel sorry for Kayden.
What do you despise? By this you are truly known....

I would say Kaden. As others have stated, his loss is far more tragic than what happened to Demetrius.

I empathize with Kayden. He was dealt a terrible hand in the story.

I felt bad for Demetrius but I felt worse for Kayden. Too lose everything so quickly would be heart breaking. It was clear that he had struggled and was struggling. Demetrius has the possibility of hope and creating a home amongst his friends. Kayden seems to be surrounded by despair.

Definitely Kayden. He had a tough past and everyone he cared about died in the end. Demetrius had it tragic, but I wouldn’t say that there is any competition between the two.

I felt really really bad for Kayden. He just lost so much. Demetrius atleast has Galen and Rowan by his side. So clearly my sympathies side with Kayden.

Truly intriguing question; I had never regarded it before and am still struggling to come to a conclusion. Kayden technically suffered the most trauma in a single moment, and yet Demetrius is in a significantly better position to keep blaming himself. This really mind blowing!
