Did Meldorath send Eiodi Ganesh to Caromentis to learn more about it?

Although Meldorath sending eiodi Ganesh to Caromentis instead of killing him came as a relief it was a rather suspicious choice (at least for me.)
And it dawned on me that he might have done this to learn about Caromentis. I mean, we already have (what I think is) proof that the Eiodi is infected by Meldorath's virus. So sending him to Caromentis would mean that Meldorath can now see and learn everything about caromentis that the Eiodi can.
What do you think? Could Meldorath still be using the Eiodi? If yes, would the virus still work at such a distance? And what do you think the eiodi is doing at Caromentis?
