It's full moon. A winged creature was hovering at night looking for a lone victim as the weather became hotter. The first victim testified, "the Aswang sliced below my belly button and was eating balut with my blood." Detectives Glenda McMahan and Luther Charles were puzzled in the hilarious attack of women. A coyote or any wild animals will not devour a specific organ from its victim, an assessment from the Anderson Police Department. A new case was reported in the vast attack of hogs, particularly assumed in the liver and pancreas. Will the detectives bound its culprit? Their lead was just a loud sound of "tik-tik-tik."

Patty Fischer is known for writing a horror story, The Islands Tell Of It will tell his masterpiece. First, let's take a look at the character buildup. I like the opening chapter with detective Glenda's bizarre feelings about the attacker. It implies a strong female protagonist, while enhancing the scary beginning of the tale. Second, the Philippine folklore about the Aswang has been carefully researched, particularly in Capiz, Panay Island. I'm very familiar with this tale, which is still lingering around in our town. Third, the balut delicacy was perfectly described in its texture and taste.

The setting is partly in the modern day of Indianapolis. The author excellently balanced crime, thrill, mystery and horror in a humorous unpredictable manner. On the other side, I like least in the sudden transition of some scenarios. I read the previous paragraphs two to three times in order for me to connect the story, however, it doesn't make me exhausted. Furthermore, the first person narration is distinguishable in the character of Glenda. The book has been professionally edited because it has a good plot, an outstanding narrative and with only rare errors.

The Islands Tell Of It by Patty Fischer is deserving of 4 out of 4 stars. I highly appreciated the collaboration of the authorities like the City Mayor, Police Department and the FBI in catching the Aswang. Plus, the intense scenario of the attack is clearly written in this 34 chapters horror novel. The unique horrifying detail of this spine-chilling tale is reaching across the country of Philippines to Colorado, California and Indiana really amuses me.

This horror novel is particularly for adults horror fanatics only. If reading gore scenes doesn't make you sick, I highly recommend this tale to you. There are a lot of crime scenes stated and are not good for young audiences as well. A person who is familiar with an Aswang and a balut will basically enjoy this tale. In conclusion, the readers will notice that this tale is good for a movie adaptation.

If it is good for movie adaptation, then it will be be more enjoyable to read, because from my experience, books are more captivating than when acted out as movies, especially horror movies. Followers of the Harry Potter series will attest to this.

This book is quite unique. According to the review, the book involves a creature who is affecting the safety of humans in the city. There is need for investigation, and I hope that the character were able to solve the mystery. Thanks for your review.
