A Celestial Wish by George Scott is a political crime thriller that sets out to solve an Agatha Christie mystery about who wanted POTUS 56, Ted Champion, dead in 2086. Fifty-five-year-old Jack Reacher is a Private Investigator who died suddenly from a blood clot. Former crime detective Bobby Tam Hoy died at the age of 91. With God's help, Agatha sends Jack and Bobby back to Earth to solve the mystery. For them to learn the Earth's history, she has them visit former Biblical nobles, Presidents, Senators, Representatives, and other notable individuals whom God has saved. God prefers the name ME and is the one in control of the investigation. Will Jack and Bobby be able to solve the mystery? Who are the individuals who teach Bobby and Jack about Earth’s history?

This fast-paced political crime thriller is full of suspense that kept me wondering the who and why aspects of the assassination of POTUS 56. There were times I thought he deserved to be murdered, and then he would do something that would change my mind. In my mind, this makes for a good mystery. Since God is in charge and three of the main protagonists are deceased, this political crime thriller has a definite religious undertone. Two of my favorite religious concepts were that there is no gender in Heaven as this is something only mortals worry about, and in God's eyes, all nations, social classes, and races are one. To me, these are beautiful concepts that would make the world a beautiful place. My favorite quote from this book was, "Fate is a strange beast. Only Time can control it." I believe this to be very true.

This book's most significant negative aspect is the lack of professional editing. I was disappointed by the number of errors. On top of the mistakes, there are formatting issues throughout the book, editorial comments, extra-large font, periods in the middle of sentences, and repetitiveness that a professional editor would have found. I did not like that the author used words like "gemutlichkeit," which means geniality or friendliness, without providing a translation. All of these issues took away from my reading pleasure.

Since this book is not in a format ready for publication, I have no choice but to give this book 1 out of 4 stars. If the author had made sure the book was formatted correctly and deleted the editorial comments, I would have given it two stars because there are a lot of lessons to be learned from our history. The majority of the errors, translations, and repetitiveness would have had to be corrected to have it earn three stars. For four stars, everything would have had to be corrected with less than ten errors.

If you do not mind reading a book full of mistakes and editorial comments, I recommend it to mature readers who enjoy political crime thrillers that revolve around religious ideologies. Sensitive readers need to be aware of some gory content, minor sexual content, and non-borderline profanity that they may find offensive.
