Review of Jane in the Jungle
Not all superheroes wear capes. Superheroes usually possess superpowers, but this one has none, nor does she wear a cape. She said:
My enjoyment of Norma Grochowski's Jane in the Jungle was enormous. The story centers on a woman who works by day and saves people at night. The moment I began reading it, I didn't want to put it down.“…how could a person fight in a cape? Wouldn’t it get in the way?”
Sadie Peterson is a reporter who works for a local newspaper. From the outside, her life appears mundane. She works in the morning, watches a neighbor’s child, and meets with other women in her quilting group. Other than her daily and weekly routine, she doesn’t seem to have much going on in her life.
People have no idea that Sadie is the vigilante who saves women from assaults during the night. Several women had been assaulted, hurt, and killed by a serial killer on the loose in their town. Sadie managed to save one. In a few weeks, she returned to the park where she had saved the woman. She encountered the serial killer, aka, Slasher. When she fought him, she nearly died. She then had another story to write for the front page of their paper. However, the police believing that Slasher might come back for her, put her in protective custody. Detective Russo volunteered to be the custodian and stayed with her.
Will they catch the killer? Why did Detective Russo volunteer to stay with her? I can sense the romantic development between Sadie and the detective. What if he finds out that she is the vigilante, known as Jane in the Jungle, will he arrest her?
My, oh, my, what an enjoyable book! From start to finish, I was fully engaged and entertained. The author did not waste time and started with action right off the bat. I enjoyed the thrill of who might be the real villain. The romantic part of the book is just about right, light, and entertaining, not too corny. I also appreciate the light humor in the narrative.
I do not have anything that I did not like in the whole story. The book is done professionally, and I found no errors. Descriptions of fighting and death are present, although very light and not disturbing, that may not appeal to some. Intimate scenes are also present, nevertheless, not too vivid.
People who enjoy reading books with protagonists acting as superheroes or vigilantes will enjoy the book. In addition to that, people who relish romantic stories between detectives or police officers and witnesses may also find the book amusing.
In summary, the book is an entertaining and enjoyable read. Therefore, I am rating the book 4 out of 4 stars. My key takeaway from this book is Sadie’s statement:
“I urge women to take a self-defense class. Learn how to protect yourself.”

It also sounds like a lot of fun and I think I might like the author's writing style.

We, women are all superheroes in our own ways.Summer Henrietta wrote: ↑14 Aug 2022, 10:46 I have always wonder what it feels like to be a super hero as a woman with all the dangers involved. I guess this answers my questions. I can't wait to read it.

The romantic part of the book is not too cheesy. And yes, the thrill about a vigilante risking her life and saving other women is what made me grab the book.NetMassimo wrote: ↑14 Aug 2022, 15:57 Romance is not my thing but this seems like an engaging thriller about a vigilante fighting crime and risking her life to fight a particularly dangerous one. Thank you for your great review!
