Review of Mupray Diablo blood ink on concrete
Muprey Diablo: Blood Ink on Concrete by Marquise Boyd is a true-life event and action-packed thriller story that centres around a man called Muprey Diablo who is in constant battle with his inner demons. For twenty-five years, Muprey hasn’t opened his memory bank, which contains feelings from being rejected by his dad, thirst for revenge for a half-sister who lost the love of her life and is now forced to be a single mother, amongst others. Realising that he can’t continue to run from his past as it will only hurt his future, Muprey decides to confront these personal struggles head-on.
The fact that this book is based on a true-life event made me appreciate the story even more. We have lots of Muprey Diablo in our society today and in the world at large who are caught up in a world of destruction and constantly fighting their inner demons. They always find it difficult to escape their terrible past which, unknowing to them, affects their future in one way or another. What distinguishes Muprey Diablo from these people is that despite his desire to keep running from his issues, Muprey was able to discover and accept the difficult truth that you can’t outrun your inner demon, so he decided to confront his struggles head-on. I’m so big on description when I read a book such as this, and I, without a doubt, am convinced that the author did justice to it in this book. The author's perfect descriptions allowed for equally perfect imagery of events in the story which made it more exciting for me to read. Reading through Muprey Diablo's memory bank and discovering all the layers of secrets hidden there was sure one of my highlights in this book. I very much appreciated the author's diction. The words were easy to read and understand. Lastly, reading through the pages of this book and discovering it was exceptionally well edited is another plus to it.
Initially, it was difficult to differentiate between Muphrey Diablo's memory bank and present events. It was all so cluttered and confusing. It took a lot of mental dedication from me to get the hang of it. I didn't appreciate that about the book, and I don’t think other readers may be patient enough to put themselves through such stress. If the author wishes, he could revisit that part of the book and iron out the storyline.
Regardless of my criticism, Muprey Diablo: Blood Ink on Concrete by Marquise Boyd is still a great read, and I loved reading it. That being said, I believe it’s fair to give it a 3 out of 4 stars rating. I removed a star because of my criticism of the book.
I recommend this book to those interested in thriller novels. Readers who would love to learn how to unpack negative emotions from the past will learn a lot from this.
