The action in this story thrills to the core and changes from one moment to the next. Kenneth is a very successful attorney, even though he really does not need the job. So why does he continue to strive for status by continuing to work eleven hour days? His social life extends to the occasional hook-up with the many available women vying for his attention and Sunday dinners with his parents. Kenneth seems to have it all: million dollar condo, residual income from businesses he started in his youth, fancy car, dream job, and high dollars suits. As mere human beings we think that success consists of the things that we can see, but watch Kenneth as comes to a totally different realization.
It is so hard to talk about this book without giving away all the good stuff, but a wonderful young lady by the name of Stacy aids Kenneth in his journey. He meets Stacy in a coffee shop one day on one of his rare breaks from the office. The only vacant seat was at his table and Stacy asks if she could join him. He says yes even though she is not exactly his cup of tea. She is dressed modestly and appears to be the most sincere woman he has ever met. Kenneth is intrigued with Stacy because she exudes such an air of “goodness.”
In spite of himself Kenneth begins to confide in Stacy about the dreams he has about parallel lives. In one life he has a loving wife and three daughters and not much money, leaving him in a pay-check to pay-check situation. In the other life, the real one, he is the wealthy single attorney. She listens, understands, and her purity and goodness make him fall in love with her within a short period of time. Now that his personal life is on the mend, his professional life takes a giant leap when he lands the wealthiest client around the area. Bigger is not always better, as Kenneth realizes when people associated with his new client begin to die.
Hold on as the FBI, DEA, money laundering, murder, investment fraud, and other mysteries start to unpeel like a huge onion. Nobody seems to be real as the two parallel lives converge, and you are going to be so touched at the end. If this book does not make you sit down and think about God, your family, and real happiness, I do not know what will.
I loved this book and I am a very different person since I read it. I only read it a first because it was free, but I would definitely buy it as well as recommend it to everyone I know. When Mr. Smith writes another book, count me in! I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
