Official Review: Leave Me Cold by Nicci Rae

Post by dhomespot »

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Leave Me Cold" by Nicci Rae.]

Leave Me Cold is a fiction piece of work by author Nicci Rae. It is a suspense novella with two plots that work based off of one act. Just when you think that you have the story figured out, you are thrown a curve ball to keep you guessing.

The main plot of this story centers on Adam Levine. He is the lead singer of a band that randomly starts shooting people during a concert. It is up to Detective Inspector Corinne Drew to try and find out just what happened at the concert. While all of the evidence supports the fact that Adam pulled the trigger (as it was witnessed by everyone), there are some things that just do not add up.

Grieving families, particularly an upset, outspoken preacher, hinder the case in finding out the order of events and accurate accounts of what happened. Just when the case gets solved, sort of, one of the main witnesses comes up missing. Now Detective Inspector Drew has to find a way to tie the two cases together. She is on a tight timeline since the press is constantly asking when an arrest will be made.

While I enjoyed this short read, I did have some issues that concerned me. One was the use of the name Adam Levine. It is kind of misleading since there is a well known singer of that name that is currently on the television every week. I also did not like the way some questions were not answered. The motive of the crime was never disclosed nor what happened to the other guilty party of a different crime. I did like the way that Nicci Rae started the book with how the concert goers were getting ready to leave. It gave a more personal feel for some of the characters.

I would give this book 2 out of 4 stars. There were just too many questions that did not get answered by the end of the book. I would like to also point out that where it says “Prologue”, it should say “Epilogue”. The prologue usually comes at the beginning of the book. I had no problem finishing this book, as I could not wait for the detective to figure out how the crime happened. If there were more written into this story, I think it would be a great book. There is just not enough information given.

Was thinking the same thing.... Main character could have used a different name. Thanks for the review :)
