Review of Operation Bethlehem
Operation Bethlehem by Yariv Inbar is a book that tells the story of Daniel, a field soldier in Bethlehem. His field commander sent him to Arabia for his first operation. C-130 Hercules aircraft dropped him in the desert; his pick-up arrived in a disguised Arabic family. On the way to the base, he was accosted at a checkpoint and seized for several days by his men, who acted under the cover of an Arabic soldier with the sole purpose of testing his intelligence and duty to work. Fortunately for him, he passed the test and proceeded with the operation.
He met a lady, Yael, a field soldier, too. They were drawn to each other, and soon, a relationship ensued; they were planning a wedding when the inevitable happened. The military excused Daniel from his duties; Yael was pregnant, and everything was on the brink of breaking. Did these occurrences destroy their relationship? Did they later get married? Did Daniel return to his duties? These daunting questions will be left for the reader to answer.
The book is a beautiful piece. The book's positive aspects are the undercover intelligence, the risk-taking scenarios, the information gathering, and the story's development. I like the author's writing style; it is descriptive and informative.
The book shows the need for protection of lives and property. It also shows that there is more to identity and that our identity should not be a discriminating factor influencing our decisions. Childhood traumas can have a lasting impact on adulthood if left unresolved.
There are no negative aspects to the book. I do not dislike the book. The book editing is flawless. I rate the book Operation Bethlehem by Yariv Inbar 5 out of 5 stars. The reasons for my rating are above.
I recommend the book to military personnel. If you like undercover stories, the book will interest you. I recommend the book to soldiers. I recommend the book to leaders to help them make informed decisions.
