The Zodiac Killer Volume 2

Post by Charmaine Mahlangu »

Michael F Cole in this sequel spends more time calculating and magnifying the killers character. Where it all started, how he started and why his behaviour was dramatically outstanding. The book is so well written that you forget this is an investigation left unsolved. It automatically transfigures you out of reality.

Focusing specifically on his behaviour towards most of the couples he killed, which later earned him the name " sweet heart slayer", the zodiac killer had social deficiencies. His anger and rage was mostly towards woman . This proves that he had somehow found it difficult to maintain or have a romantic relationship. This I agree with because no signs of sexual assault were ever reportedly done by the killer.

His ability to stand out and seek for attention as he constantly contacted the Chronicle ,which was the local newspaper showed a boastful character. It is either he wanted us to know he was to kill or be feared and somehow worshiped. He had a weird character that's for sure. How many serial killers do you know that would correct the media to not call him "cipher killer " but instead zodiac killer? He demanded respect in a more ways than one and I must admit, he received it.

The evidence room was not short of evidence . This proves that he was sloppy in nature and he commited crimes at a time when DNA was not as advanced as it is today. This showed a character of a killer that cared less in being caught. He was not afraid. Hence the conclusion that he was a psychopath. He was born unstable rather than made to be that way.

According to the deliberations I feel like I have learnt a lot about the killer but more over , It makes you feel like you know exactly who the killer is. So close but yet so far . This was a notorious killer and this being an unsolved case proves our incapabilities to outsmart him.

Of all the theories written in the book, I think the author had little reference to compare to or relate to in terms of a second opinion. The author is basing this mostly on his solely experience in uncovering the killer. There's always two sides to any story but definitely not in this case. The book is well written there is little to no error. A relatable edition and educative too. A 5 out of 5 rating from me. Although I found the chapters longer than before i managed to finish the book attentively.
