The monster of Florence by Douglas Preston

Post by Charmaine Mahlangu »

" nothing ever happens in Florence on a Sunday Morning " well maybe that was before the first killing that happened in 1974. A land with three exceptional landmarks is described from root to branch in these pages and here it goes.

A quiet city known as Florence was haunted by an incredible dread and fear of death in every corner of Florence in the year 1974 . The monster of Florence is described here in the first few pages as simply just that, a monster. Spezi was asked to assist on a random Sunday at a police facility only to find himself in an enveloping catastrophe of a murder of a young couple in a car. The couple looked as though they were having sex before the ordeal. The attack looked rather random and more surprisingly , it was a Sunday Morning in Florence.

His first encounter as he got into the scene is a man killed and stabbed multiple times . While the woman's body lying in the park naked and mutilated he though animals were responsible. Her womb was removed and it was scary to know that the killer had taken the womb as a souvenir with him. It took Spezi some time alone to process such . As he unfolds and uncovers the corruption and incompetent work that happen behind the badge he also becomes a suspect. More over he becomes suspected to know way too much not to even be the killer . How he gets out if this is yet to be found between the pages.

I enjoyed everything about the book . The confusion comes when more characters are being introduced and we dont get to see them again. This is by far the most scariest book I have ever read about Jack the Ripper. It highlights how close they were . This was the closest to Jack the Ripper as possible and that makes the book highly exciting.

Five out of five rating on the book. This is a thorough investigation and it uncovers nothing but the truth. This felt more like a witch hunt and that was fascinating for me. It was an incredible read that's for sure.
