The Trader of Souls – 1: Crosshair, by Anirban Sengupta is a tale of lost love, espionage, traitors, determination, and revenge. Maria and Ralph have a wonderful marriage. Maria has her own specialty in perfumes, and Ralph is well known on Wall Street. They live a lavish lifestyle among the big players until something horrible transpires to bring it all to an end as Ralph is ripped from Maria.

After tragedy strikes, Gad is there to be a source of strength for Maria. Gad is a shrewd businessman and friend. He is willing to help Maria solve the mystery that puzzles her day and night. A piece of paper with one name on it begins a journey that will transport Maria into a world that she could never imagine and one from which she is not sure she will survive. She jumps at the chance to do something about the horrible event that have consumes her life and trusts Gad when he explains what she must do.

Maria endures gruel training for seven months and is ready for her new role. Paco and Bruck become her lifeline, and she has no choice but to trust them with her life. No matter how heavy the cost, she sacrifices to get revenge for Ralph. Just when she feels so close to achieving her goal, it all slips away as she finds out that no one is who they appear to be. All of a sudden the people that she trusts try to kill her; the one man who is her target of revenge turns out to be the wrong person; and she realizes that what she knows about her situation barely scratches the surface of the dangerous truth. Her life is in danger and once again she must dig deep to trust in order to survive. Everyone seems to know secrets and after viewing a video, she finally realizes that she is a loose end targeted for elimination.

Follow the world of treachery and deception as one woman beats the odds to survive. Maria is amazed as each attempt on her life brings about new players and even more secrets. Only her training and the help of the one man she must believe in keeps her alive. Betrayal seems to be the way of life in this world that she is entangled in, but the need for revenge drives her relentlessly. Even when it seems that she can no longer endure, the burning fire of hatred continues to be her fuel.

I like this story because it kept me guessing. Every time I thought I had something figured out, I was in for a big surprise. I enjoy reading about the world of espionage, and I was not disappointed because it was full of twists, turns, and action. I want to see a sequel because I must know what happens in Maria’s life. I see the potential for love blossoming and a whole lot more action as well. I will definitely recommend this to my friends. Don’t miss this one!

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.

I love a book that has a lot of twists and turns in it. This sounds like an interesting read. Can I ask why you gave it 3 stars?

I do apologize for not being more specific. I loved the story but there were some grammatical and tense errors that need to be corrected. I did notice them, but they did not prevent me from enjoying the story. Try it and you will love it!!
