Review: Water Walker by Ted Dekker

Post by khamneithang »

Water Walker by Ted Dekker is the middle book in The Outlaw Chronicles series consisting of the earlier released Eyes Wide Open and Hacker, which will be released later this year. The books in the series have one common character, Stephen, but they can be read as a standalone or in any order.

In Water Walker, Dekker has outdone himself by crafting an incredible mind-bending and soul-twisting tale which is refreshingly delightful and entertaining. It is the story of thirteen-year-old Alice Ringwald, an orphan living with her foster parents. Alice does not remember beyond the past six months of her life. Yet, living with her caring foster parents gives her much hope for the future. But her idyllic life is shattered when a stranger, Wyatt, appears, promising to take her to her biological mother, Kathryn. Alice and the man vanish into thin air.

While a manhunt launched by the FBI failed to track down Alice and her kidnapper, she is taken to Louisiana where Kathryn is waiting for her. As Alice is totally enmeshed in the spiritual rituals that her mother insists on, time roars by quickly. But when Alice turns eighteen, she discovers secrets she never knew before - a million dollar trust fund established by her late father. When Stephen appears, she begins to see things in a new light. But will she have the courage to discern falsehood from truth?

Written in the vein of Ted’s trademark thrillers, Water Walker is a story of secrets, discovery, love and forgiveness. The story is deep, intense and transformational. It is a journey of discovery with its twists and turns that keeps the reader totally absorbed. Ted Dekker has the ability to spin an unlikely story into a fascinating read leaving one breathless to the very last page.

I haven't read this book yet, but I really like Ted Dekker. I am going to put this on my ever-growing list of books to read. Thanks!
