Review of Carrasco '67
When Peter arrived in Uruguay with his family, all he ever dreamed and hoped for was for his work empire to be stronger and for his family to have the best time of their lives. All was going fine as expected until he employed Miguel, a member of the Tupamáros (a terrorist sect that calls successful foreigners imperialist pigs). Miguel had a perfect CV and was the most outstanding candidate among those who applied for the job. But, unknown to him, all this was planned work. The Tupamáros are known for their large network and how deadly they might be. Miguel has been used by the sect to milk dry their target, and he would do anything asked of him not to be destroyed by the organization. Will Peter and his family survive this force without anyone being hurt? Read this well-scripted, classic fiction, yet true-life story to get answers to the questions and also feel suspense at its peak.
I have read quite several crime thrillers and action books, but I must confess that I love the flow of the book Carrasco '67 by Elaine Broun and the level of suspense in it. The beginning already captivated me, and I love how what happened at the beginning wasn't easily decrypted until almost the end.
Reading this story has made me realize once more that we never know how strong we are until we are faced with certain situations. I felt for his family and the turn of events for each of them. I kept asking myself why we have to have so much killing and pain in a world where no one lives forever. Seeing all that Peter's family had to go through and who sold them out was heartbreaking, but then, did she have any choice?
There was nothing I disliked about the story; it was exceptionally well-edited. It preached love, tolerance, loyalty, support, and being wise. I have no reason to rate it less than 5 out of 5, as it is well deserving of the score. I recommend Carrasco '67 to lovers of fiction, suspense thrillers, and action-packed novels.
