The Road to Lavender by D.P. Benjamin follows the character of Anne Scriptor. She is an archaeology student who has been assigned by her professor to hide a series of toolboxes across Colorado in remote locations. She believes this is for the professor's yearly geocaching assignment. Little does she know, the professor has hidden treasure in one of the boxes. Dangerous people, such as the Russian mob and an unsavory German, are after the treasure as it could be worth millions. When Anne runs into a charming detective, Trinidad, who owns a lavender farm in the small town of Lavender, she begins to realize her assignment is far more than the ordinary geocaching test she was told it was. What will happen to Anne? Who will end up with the treasure? Secure a copy of The Road to Lavender to find out.

The constantly moving point of view added to the suspense. The point of view would switch between Anne Scriptor, the German, and other characters. I always feel as though a moving viewpoint helps keep the book moving around, and Benjamin did an excellent job of balancing the narrative between the different perspectives. This also allowed for each character to be well-developed throughout the novel.

The book also sprinkled in details about archaeology. Before reading the book, I had no idea what geocaching was. Other techniques in archaeology were discussed as well. I always enjoy it when a book can balance teaching me something new with a heart-pounding plot. The Road to Lavender was able to achieve this balance.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was well-written and well-edited. There was nothing that I disliked about it. It would appeal to fans of fast-paced novels that feature mystery and action. Those who are interested in archaeology or want to learn a little bit more about it are sure to enjoy this book. It does contain strong language and some violence, so it is best suited for mature audiences. Overall, this is an exciting novel that I highly recommend. It is also part of a series, and I look forward to reading the next installment.
