Review of Paranormal Dark Realm
The world is filled with innumerable realms, many of which we are not even aware of, such as the paranormal realm. These hidden dimensions hold secrets and entities beyond our comprehension, waiting to be discovered by those daring enough to seek them. In Paranormal Dark Realm, C. Russell Cairns dives us into one such mysterious and eerie world, where the line between the living and the dead blurs and danger lurks in every shadow.
The story begins by introducing us to Sydney Brent, a shy and timid 16-year-old girl. Sydney is often bullied by her classmates and even called ‘Ghost Girl’ as one of their bullying antics. However, Sydney's refuge is the Millfield Public Library, a place where she feels safe and at peace. She is even liked by the librarian, Mrs. Beatrice "Bea" Montgomery, who always greets Sydney with warmth. On one such day, when Sydney arrives at her place of solace, the library, she selects a book titled "Whispers of the Unseen," which promises stories of ghosts and other realms.
As she reads, Sydney becomes deeply engrossed in tales of spectral beings and haunted places. She feels a connection with the characters and themes, particularly the idea of finding strength in being unseen. The stories ignite her curiosity and desire for adventure, contrasting with her mundane life in Millfield. The book gives her hope and a sense of belonging, making her feel less alone. She realizes that her quest to understand the supernatural could change her life. As the library closes, Sydney feels a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
As her interest is now piqued, Sydney performs a ritual in her bedroom, one in which she would contact the spirits. She gathers candles, salt, and crystals and creates a protective circle on the floor. Soon something extraordinary happens, and Sydney feels a sense of joy and pride as she is able to perform the ritual.
However, her interest in the paranormal starts becoming a sort of obsession, and despite the warnings of Bea, the librarian, who is also well-versed in this realm, Sydney doesn’t seem to pay much heed and dives even deeper into this subject. Sydney even convinces her friends, Cassie and Evelyn, to join her in conducting a series of rituals aimed at contacting spirits. The trio begins with harmless experiments at first. Soon, they decide to take it a notch up and decide to investigate an abandoned and presumably haunted sanitarium on the outskirts of town. However, something happens at the sanitarium! A malevolent spirit called Nore has been activated. And there’s also a mysterious figure who calls himself Damien Blackwood. Who is he, and why does he know every corner of the sanitarium? Moreover, what happens to Sydney after she falls into a deep, dark hole in the sanitarium? Do Sydney, Cassie, and Evelyn come out fine? Or is there more to this mystery? You have to read this book if you want the answers!
Honestly, what a great story this was! I enjoyed every bit of it. The author has managed to maintain the grip of the story throughout, and the characters have been brought out quite well, especially the character of Sydney. The way her transition has been shown within the book, which is from a shy girl to a strong one, is beautiful. The writing is also pure beauty. It is not easy to write such paranormal stories, as they could go haywire if not executed well. Therefore, the author deserves all the praise in this area. Even the other characters, like Cassie, Evelyn, Bea, and Dr. Harrington, add charm to the story and the overall plot build-up. My favorite part of the story, though, has to be the showdown between Sydney and Nore. It was breathtaking, and I was on the edge of my seat while reading it. Thus, due to all of these reasons and nothing to dislike about the book, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars. I have removed one star from the overall rating only due to the presence of grammatical and typographical errors.
Moreover, the way the story concludes suggests a possibility for continuation, as the open-ended finale paves the way for a potential sequel, which I am eagerly awaiting. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading paranormal and mystery-filled stories.
