What is the true origin of human existence? Does God truly exist? What is the extent to which we can prove his existence? Does he expect us to suffer to please and serve him? Sacred Life and Demons by Kenneth Deaton is a mystery and suspense thriller that takes us deeply into a man’s struggle with the supernatural and how far people can go to prove their love for God.

Dr. Tom Tanner was an oncologist and hematologist in Mississippi town and a non-believer in the supernatural. He, however, lived and worked in a town with staunch religious people who would go any length to prove their undying passion and love. His hospital was converted to a Christian hospital, and Tom has to suddenly make adjustments, such as the absence of mercy killing. The hospital also became anti-abortion, which led to a lot of avoidable pain and suffering. Now surrounded by very strong believers who would not accept him unless he joined them, Tom is faced with tough decisions to make.

I totally loved and enjoyed the story. I loved how facts, beliefs, and principles were presented in the book, giving room for debate. I also loved the suspense that was carried on till the end of the book. Societal issues like abortions, mercy killings, and even vaccinations were deeply discussed in the book, making it a very informative and enlightening read. It also covered the religious aspects, with references to the Bible. I also loved how hospital practices, especially cancer care practices, were well discussed in the book, educating its readers. It is a very good book.

I do not dislike anything about the book. Although I think most of the portrayals of Christianity were a little extreme, I realised that it was just the plot. The book was impeccably edited, and I found no errors while reading, which made it a seamless read. I definitely enjoyed the book.

I rate this book five out of five stars for its informative and suspense-filled story. The book was expertly edited, and I found no grammatical or spelling errors while reading it. Although I think it is an amazing read, I also feel it may be a little triggering for strong Christians due to the portrayal of Christianity shown in the book. However, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to open-minded individuals who are looking for answers. I also recommend it to individuals interested in how the healthcare system works. I totally recommend this book to readers looking for a good suspense and mystery novel. This is an amazing read.

This thriller offers food for thought about people's attitude to important issues, especially how such attitudes can be influenced by religion and religious fundamentalism. Thank you for your great review!
