Crimeline Hollywood

A thrilling story divided into five parts, it follows the journey of an actress and songwriter, Sparklynn James, from losing popularity to regaining her fame and leaving her mark on high stages. The main plot revolves around Sparklynn getting kidnapped and her husband, Harmon, creating a rescue team to protect and retrieve her, which includes many members of their friend circle and professionals they often consult. The primary characters are Becca Fairway, aka Rebecca, a private investigator with a popular blog, and Dash Harwood, an astrologer and a trusted friend of Sparklynn.
The story revolves around their quest for Sparklynn. The things I like about this book are:
• No forceful extension of chapters, as the content is strictly related to the story.
• Ease of understanding due to the use of commonly used language in the narrative.
• A proper balance between suspense and the information given in the plot.
• The sarcastic, twisted humor is my favorite aspect of the book.
• Briefly shows the struggle behind all that celebrity fame, unleashing the dark side of the film industry.
• Introduces readers to the ugly activities perpetrated by profit-driven big industry houses that exploit people in their desperate times.
• Portrays the hint of detective skills that are present in every ordinary civilian and how even experienced investigators sometimes fail to understand basic concepts.
• Also reflects the professionalism of individuals and their thorough approach.
I rate it 4 out of 5.
The only thing I didn’t like was the use of profane words at an alarming level, even in some basic sentences; it felt unnecessary to some extent. The book would have done well even without them. Other than that, the story has a perfect blend of open reality and behind-the-curtain truth and is very contemporary in this world of hyped celebrity gossip. Overall, I really like the book’s story and characters and recommend it to each and every person.
