Precision by D.C. Scott is the first of five books in this romance and murder mystery series. Detective Jay Magruder comes across the 20-year-old closed murder case of John and Mara Logan. He suspects there is more to this case than what meets the eye and decides to investigate further. A young six-and-a-half-foot-tall man responds to Jay's ad with information he has gathered that he hopes will help Jay solve the case. A detailed story follows about John, his wives, family, and friends. Why was Detective Magruder suspicious about the case findings? Who is this young man, and where did he get his information? Were John and Mara's deaths the result of a crime of passion that ended in a murder-suicide, or did someone else murder them?

I must admit that this is one of the most unique crime stories I have read. It starts with a crime, followed by historical information on all the characters, and then returns to the crime at the end. Although this style detracted from the suspense I usually find in a murder mystery, it worked for this storyline as I learned each character thoroughly. It was interesting to find out that one of the characters was based on the author's deceased close friend, to whom the author dedicated the book. It was fantastic that she was remembered in this way. The author also included several personal notes that provided more information, which helped me understand the subject better. One of these notes was about Valentine's Day's impact on people. I enjoyed the humor in this book. I laughed when I read, "In Alabama, the 'Holy Trinity' is God, football, and Bear Bryant." The author also provides many helpful life hints, like locating your car in a large hospital parking garage.

The PDF version I read was a draft copy from Salem Author Services containing many errors. Other than the editing, I disliked nothing else about the book. I enjoyed this book's humor, life lessons, romantic aspects, and emotional scenes. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars, deducting one star for it not being professionally edited. I am eager to read the next book in the series to continue this storyline.

Although this book does not preach religion, it is best suited for Christians. The religious content includes the biblical scripture "1 Corinthians 13," prayers, and having faith in God, to name a few examples. Sensitive readers may be offended by the book's borderline profanity content. If you enjoy reading books about sports, you will also enjoy this book.

The mix of romance, mystery, and humor in this story sounds intriguing, especially with its unique storytelling style. While the draft version had some editing issues, it seems like a solid start to a series, with enough character depth and suspense to keep me interested in reading more.

My type of book. Books with a mix of murder mystery and romance are captivating. Once you mentioned "John" and "Mara", I guessed they were couples, but it seems there is much. And this is the exact reason I find such books to be amazing reads.
