Right Across the Bay is a thrilling masterpiece penned by Quinn Avery.

After decades, Maxine finally decides to relocate to the small town by Lake Shetek where she lived with her grandmother as a teenager for some time. Reuniting with her old high school sweetheart, Noah, while visiting her recently moved world-renowned cousin, Britta, plays a big role in her decision. However, Maxine forgets that there was a reason why she left Lake Shetek in the first place. The past creeps into her happy present when her beloved cousin, Britta, is brutally murdered. Things take a turn when one more woman is killed as well. Ace Detective Josephine Kelly takes it upon herself to unmask the murderer.

Who is the killer? Will Detective Kelly and Maxine be able to catch the murderer? What about Maxine? Will she finally be able to face her past and get her happily ever after?

To find out, read Quinn Avery's Right Across the Bay.

The book has a great cast of characters. Each and every character is well-developed and has different layers to them. I can confidently say that all of them will surprise you at one point or another. Maxine, Britta, and Gabby, each had dark secrets. I enjoyed unraveling their mysteries. Beth was an enigmatic character while Detective Kelly was the honest one. Noah became my favorite. The way his character is portrayed is admirable. I was astonished when I finally realized his true nature.

Quinn Avery is a brilliant author. The way Avery shifts between the past and the present and swaps the characters’ points of view is commendable. I was never confused as everything flowed so seamlessly. In fact, the shifting narrative made this book all the more intriguing.

Full of twists and turns, Right Across the Bay had gripped me from the very first page. Avery left red herrings everywhere. I was constantly on the lookout for the killer just like Detective Kelly. I have to say Quinn Avery was successful in surprising me to the very end. Nothing in this story was predictable. I am eager to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend this novel to fans of psychological mysteries.

I happily rate Quinn Avery's Right Across the Bay 5 out of 5 stars as I truly enjoyed reading it. I did not find any shortcomings in this book. It is a great read and deserves a perfect rating.

A chilling return to a place that was never truly left behind—Right Across the Bay hooked me with the emotional weight of Maxine’s past colliding with a present drenched in mystery. The layered tension between personal reckoning and a deadly whodunit makes it more than just a crime thriller; it’s a haunting unraveling of secrets that feel disturbingly close to home.
