The Case of the Influencers Elite by Shannora Parks was an interesting fiction book about a mysterious private investigator named Ty Pisces. There is a theme related to astrology and zodiac signs that I enjoyed, and it was fascinating to follow Detective Pisces on his adventurous journey. This is volume 1 of the Alignment Chronicles Universe. I rate this book a 3 out of 5.

Something I enjoyed about the author’s writing was how relatable they made the main character. Ty Pisces is tough yet emotional, suffering from strong PTSD and mental health issues. Many people have these same struggles, and I found Ty to be extremely relatable and even inspiring. He works hard, and he cares about people a lot, despite his past traumas. The author did a great job creating a likeable character that readers can relate to and root for.

A criticism I have about this book is that the prologue is too fast-paced and doesn’t prompt curiosity from me as a reader. It wasn’t detailed and emotional enough for me to care about Celena or what she had to say, and I didn’t agree that she was “enigmatic” or fascinating. How are you supposed to feel captivated by a character when the only details we have are what she looks like? In my opinion, it was annoying that Celena somehow knew everything without reason. Can she read minds? Is she magical? I also feel like the author could’ve done a better job leading into the story about Ty Pisces instead of randomly bringing it up without interesting context. What makes me, as a reader, want to read about Ty Pisces and his background? The author should put more thought and effort into the prologue, because I wouldn’t have kept reading based on the intro alone, and a prologue is supposed to suck you in!

I deducted a star from my rating because of the reason above, and I deducted another star because of the grammar mistakes I found. There were quite a few mistakes, so I think this book should be proofread and edited again. The many mistakes hindered my enjoyment of the story.

Overall, The Case of the Influencers Elite by Shannora Parks was a nice read and had a lot of unique qualities. I’d recommend this story to adults who enjoy fiction!
