Alas, I am not 16 anymore: I also think I would have liked this book more when I was younger. I appreciate that the novel is set in contemporary times, with all that comes with it, though. I am also curious to know if the author is truly a spy or he just claims to be.
Thank you for the great review!

I'd be surprised if secret operations were described in detail in a book right after their end. However, that doesn't rule out the possibility that the author is really a secret agent and writes novels inspired to his missions.
Thank you for your appreciation!

I couldn't avoid the book because it came highly recommended as an exciting, fast-paced thriller. The book was everything promised and so much more, and I don't regret a thing! My favorite sub-genres include drama, action, and espionage. In Family Business, JJ sets out to find the truth and reveal the internal mole. Congratulations on BOTD!

I think I haven't read a spy thriller book yet, and with your review, NetMassimo, I think these two agents will entertain me with their spy activities in the European Secret Agency for Organized Crime and Terrorism. Thanks for your intriguing review, NetMassimo!

This novel's plot isn't too complex, so it can be a good starting point for a new reader of this genre. Thank you for your appreciation!

I gather from your review that this spy-thriller is riveting and very real; since the author is sharing his experinces as a spy on one of his missions. My interest is piqued. I am adding this exciting story to my bookshelves. Thank you.

One of the most compelling aspects of *Family Business* is how it blurs the line between fiction and reality by having the author and protagonist share a name and a claimed identity. That unusual twist instantly makes the story feel more immersive. I also appreciated the humanization of the protagonist. Unlike the typical emotionless super-spy, J.J. Fauser’s fear, doubt, and concern for his colleagues add real depth to the narrative. The pandemic setting and realistic tech use make it timely and grounded, and the action unfolds with just enough unpredictability to keep you hooked.
