The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain

Post by leerose47 »

If you like Jodi Piccoult, you will love this book. Riley MacPherson has recently lost her father and has gone to a small town in North Carolina to clean out his home. While there, she uncovers disturbing clues that her family, and unwittingly herself, have been living lies. Riley believed that her older sister Lisa had committed suicide, but as she encounters family friends she soon realizes that there is much mystery and heartache behind this tragedy. Chamberlain uses a dual-person point of view to present the plot and character development in a clever and insightful manner.Though the ending is somewhat predictable, the path the reader takes to get there is a good read.

I just finished this book the other day and I loved it. I do wonder though what it would have been like if Lisa had just stayed, she was a minor and I wonder if she would have only had a few years in prison and let go. I was shocked when I found out who Riley's father was, I was wide eyed and stunned. I enjoyed how the book jumped back and forth between the present and the past and then when it catches up to both stories in the present near the end the two stories merge seamlessly. I really enjoyed this book, I would like to find more like this one.
