Gone Girl - A review.

Post by mindCupcake »

The story started with a brief, sweet note, the way it moved, slowly, steadily and yet dangerously prominent, stirred the expectations, yes, the story is complicated and in a way, creepy.

The explanation as to what turned Amy to being Amazing to what ever she thought was the definition for "Amazing" was quite unclear, yes, she always wanted to live up to her parents' books' expectations and that might have turned her into a narcissistic, suicidal maniac but the magnitude of it all is quite not explained properly.

Nick, a caring husband, to begin with, and what his marriage made him is quite tragic. Yes, it is seen that they both worked up in being what they were, but I disliked for the way he would be swayed by a letter, or a sentence or anything for that matter, though I give credit for the way he handled the situation in bringing his wife back home.

All the other characters are completely over shadowed, most importantly GO, whose character does not feel so important and yet cold and chilling. Gilpin, Boney, Tanner, just side kicks of the humongous, marriage- murder frame up story by Nick and Amy.

I admired Amy's wit and the explanation she gave which kind of proved how Nick, being tired of who she is, belonged to her and could not survive without her. A 5 year old marriage, torn into pieces and still trying to patch with all the broken pieces, if it was not for the black mails, suicides, murders, frame ups and conspiracies, I would have taken this as an age old love story.

The most important thing, the ending was brutal, quite unexpected. I would like to know how they make this work and bring the baby out of the dark by two psychopaths who only belonged with each other.

What is grief, if not love persevering?

Grief is just love with no place to go.
