Naked in Death is the first in the 'In Death' series by JD Robb, who also writes as Nora Roberts.

In this book you meet NY Murder cop, Eve Dallas. She is a very strong independent woman who has an uncanny ability to solve gruesome murders all the while falling for the very handsome Roark. Naked in Death introduces the reader to how the world might be in the year 2058, while still maintaining its realism. After I read it, I became hooked and have since read all the In Death books there are to date.
