The review of Novel the Threat Vector by Tom Clancy with Mark Greany

This novel is an action and political thriller by Tom Clancy with Mark Greany. Although it’s said as Jack Ryan novel but I find the main character goes to some names; Jack Ryan Jr, and his Campus team, and Center.

Five Americans are on a highly secret off-the books Campus mission in Turkey. The targets are five former operatives of Jamariyah Security Organization, the dreaded national intelligence service of Lybia under Moammer Gadaffi. But the Lybian spy has the Americans’ name: Jhon Clark, Domingo ‘Ding’ Chaves, Dominic Caruso, Sam Driscoll, and Jack Ryan, Jr, the eldest son of President Jack Ryan.

Wei Zhen Lin is fail. He tries to suicide than sent to gulag. He lowers his gun from his own temple when his childhood friend who is also Chairman of Military Commission of China, General Su Ke Qiang, arrives with his tanks saving his life. President Wei Zhen Lin of People’s Republic China (PRC) wants to control South East Asia and Taiwan and wants a total dominance on that region. Avoiding China is judged as an aggressor, he arranges for a cyberespionage and cyberwarfare to attack U.S cybersecurity.

U.S is a keeper of South East Asia waterways and Taiwan’s sea. Both sides, American military personnel were killed and U.S drone was hijacked, and missiles were fire and China also looses their hundred of soldiers, programmers, tanks, frigates, and hackers.

If China has brilliant programmer like Dr.K.K Tong aka Center and Zha Shu Hai, U.S has Adam Yao and the Campus team. Center plays like God. Cyber and technology have frame him as an omnipresent. He can control all of the his men and enemy‘s movement with cyber. Dozen programmers, hackers, and Americans agents are killed in field and nobody knows who Center is. Center recruites the best spies, hackers and programmer includes the Lybian spies and some Russians.

Adam Yao is stationed in Hong Kong to study Zha and Center organization. The Campus and SEAL team killed Zha, Center, and General Su. Before Wei is arrested by Minister of Public Security, just they have done before, except this time Su wouldn’t show up to save him. Su had not save him back then but he only delayed Wei’s fall long enough to further tarnish his legacy. He shot himself.

Melanie Kraft is an analyst of CIA. She has bugged his boyfriend’s cellular, Jack Ryan, Jr. to save her future. An FBI agent has blackmailed her. Her father is involved espionage to pass secret information to enemy. Jack Ryan, Jr. was feeling somber with the death of his friends and his breakup with Melanie but being home around his family, brightened him. He was on the dinning table with his family.

This 710-page novel has strong espionage plot and some extremely fine writing. If you like high technology war or cyberwarfare, cryptography, and action theme with high-technology weaponry, you may place this novel for consideration. Besides, its strong characters, I also enjoy a fine setting for crime; Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Moscow, and Beijing.

The writers constantly concern the current world situation for its danger and twist them into an interesting and high-technology action story. It is an excellent novel and I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
