How tragic it must be to watch your parent die an unnatural death. To think that these things happen in real life even though this is a fictional story. Congratulations on book of the day.

A fascinating book about Congolese children who are turned into killers by the Purification Army. Thank you for your review.

It hurts to read about such cruel scenes like the introductory one...It seems like a good book with connections to reality!

I enjoyed reading this review, it is detailed and interesting. It is sad that there is not enough awareness, in our World,of the horrible fate these children soldiers have. I wonder how and when Lemba will manage to overcome it all.

I swear, some of these reviews are worded so well, it rivals the authors! Good job on this review. It makes me want to read this book all the more. A child soldier is certainly interesting fodder for any book. This one sounds like a winner.

There is a happy ending to the story. However, does it justify the means? Wise or otherwise, when one's loved one's life, or death is only one decision away, what does one do? The plot is intriguing, and I like how it highlights technology in good and bad hands. I would like to know how Lemba threads this needle. Congrats on the BOTD

Today's book of the day is a fictionalized memoir that exposed readers to the menace of terrorism and how child soldiers are being used to perpetrate the act in Congo. I found the book worthy of my time and wish to congratulate the author on being the #BOTD!

This well-written thriller based on a true life seems like a heart-wrenching, yet an inspirational and hopeful story. Great review!

This is a very interesting story so I’m looking forward to digging into this one to find out how a fifteen year old kid, regardless how brilliant he is in learning technology and internet hacks will be able to protect and save his loved ones and survive in a world of violence. I love suspense novels and Lemba’s journey seemed to be right up my alley.

In Drone Child: A Novel of War, Family and Survival, the content takes darker turns, the author carefully guides the reader through the worst of it tactfully and sensitively keeps the story fascinating, eye-opening, and available to a broad range of readers. Thanks for your review.

I cannot imagine living in such fear for your life. The sample painted the absolutely horrifying picture of genocide. I cringed reading the first few pages of the book where young children are forced to kill their parents. This is true hell on earth. The gruesome story continues of two siblings leaving home in an effort to escape the horror of what they fear may come. It tells of their survival far away from home. Though the violence in the book is unspeakable, and the book may be a fictional peace, the story has elements of truth to. Good job to the author on both the book and being selected for today's read.

Although I love how "He also used Lemba's inner conflict to lay out the possibilities of technology in both the hands of evil versus its use in the hands of those who wish to do good", I don't see the need for "an extensive list of questions that would enable in-depth discussions of the themes and concepts outlined in the story".- But then again I could just skip it right?!! A well written re-review, Thank you.

It'll be interesting to see what happened to Lemba and if he will escape the Purification Army and help his people. This seems like it will be a highly suspenseful read. Congrats on BOTD.
