I love thrillers but I'm not a big fan of the medical genre, so the jury's still out for me. If the story isn't too heavy on hospitals and patients, though, I'll definitely be interested. Thanks for this thoughtful review!

Thank you for reviewing this book. I started reading it today and couldn’t help falling in love with the writing. Having faced Alzheimer in my family, I’m curious to see how deep the topic is actually tackled.

Great review. Despite being classified C/T/M/H from your review the storyline doesn't seem to be strongly influenced by this. Two scientists working towards finding a cure for Alzheimers. It doesn't sound intriguing to me.

One character has his ambitions set at winning the Nobel prize while the other is concerned about find the cure of Alzheimer's disease. I love the fact the book is filled with suspense. Wonderful review also.

It surely appears as if there are enough suspects in The Prize to make a great suspenseful read in the few short chapters I read. I would thoroughly enjoy it I am sure!

Kind of makes me think of Robin Cook from back in the day, except he usually liked something infectious in his thrillers.

The Prize This book really stresses how people compete for power and knowledge. In this book, it seems it is about discovering a drug or a cure for Alzheimer's disease. The story takes place at a prestigious University in the labs of competing researchers. Who will find a working drug?

There is a definite feel of the male versus female competition in the working world. The book starts with two people, one male, one female, both researching the same project but each with there own ideas, methods and lab partners with some back stabbing and deception unfolding. Seems like an intriguing story and I only started reading the book....Can't wait to see how it ends!

Just found this site and my first book sample to read was THE PRIZE by GEOFFREY M COOPER. I thought it was really interesting with great characters. I think it's worth reading if you enjoy reading books of this nature because I know for a first timer I enjoyed it and hope you will too. [amazon=][/amazon]

This sounds like my kind of book. I love the concept and it doesn't bother me to know who the good and bad guys are right from the beginning. There are many other ways to make a novel suspenseful. I definitely will be putting this on my Want to Read shelf. I really enjoyed the sample and it's a pretty short book. I think I'll be coming back to it soon.

Unfortunately, practically every sphere of life is corrupted and medical research can become yet another battle field for those who want only fame and great fortune. It will be interesting to read this book and figure out who will win in this race to find the cure to Alzheimer's: Eric Prescott or Pamela Weller. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
