I thought the book was about some guy who lived for a hundred years or so. I'm glad the book is a crime thriller. A bit disappointing though about the character development being limited to contain the story's mystery. On the plus side the story is a two-in-one....

I think that the story is different because it is a legal thriller with religious themes written in the plot. Your view that there are two stories within a novel with a supernatural element, is interesting. I've added the book to my "to read" list. Congratulations on BOTD!

Sounds like an intriguing crime/mystery thriller with high complexities. I hope to enjoy this read.

Being an avid reader of mystery and crime novels this book piques my interest. I'm not too sure how I feel about the author breaking the story into two parts, and having the detective have one part and the other character a separate. I think it would have worked better with alternating chapters from the sounds of it but that's me. I am curious to see what happens in the story so I'm putting it on my to-be-read shelf. I'm hopeful that I will enjoy it. Thanks for the thoughtful review.

A murder mystery is a book I would really enjoy and appreciate reading. What's intriguing with this is the two in one story situation. Thanks for your review.

A public defender with psychic abilities and a serial killer seem like a good mix.

Thank you for the great review.

As much as I love reading crime mystery novels, I'm going to have to pass on this one. The two stories sound so different it seems as if they are not connected (even though they're meant to be). I prefer more fluidity between different perspectives in a story.

Almost Mortal by Christopher Leibig is developed around two stories, that of Sam Young and the Rosslyn Ripper one.
While Sam was investigating, Father Andrada is supposed to know who the ripper is due to a someone´s confession´.
Based on the official review we could say that this book was well edited and maintained the suspense of a good crime and mistery novel. It is recommended for those who like that genre.

The fact that the storyline is made up of two interconnecting stories of a criminal defence attorney and a serial killer made the book intriguing. Great review!

The book sounds interesting and full of mystery. I like thrillers and this book seems also to combine some paranormal elements with the decendant of the fallen angels and the killer who seem to be gifted as well as Sam and who is sending pages of a journal to the church to reveal bits of his identity and the information about his killings. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

A lack of suspense and an uninspired ending are deal breakers. Thanks for the honest review.

I sampled this book, but haven't gotten too far into it. Based on your review, however, I don't know if I should continue reading. Overall, I'm not a huge crime/murder story fan, but I like stories that can hook me into the plot and adventure. It seems like there's a couple of different stories in this one book, and that can be confusing. Thank you for your candid review!

Your review gives an engaging synopsis of the plot of Almost Mortal. The sample provided was quite captivating but weaken for me when the author referred to one of the widow's stories as boring.

Thanks for the honest review. In crime and mystery novels like these I usually prefer those with more suspense but overall sounds like a book I would enjoy.
