Going to war is one thing but bringing the war back with you is probably even worse. Thanks for this review.

Illegal activities, loyal friendships, mental health, and suspense all come together to tell this wartime tale. I wouldn't expect a Vietnam veteran story to be such a thriller, so this book catches my attention. War really does change people. I can imagine how it would be easy to mistake this story for a nonfictional one! Props to the author, and thank you for this captivating review!

I believe the story is fused with an aftermath of war event, investigtion, crime and all. It seems like a great thriller to read. Nice review.

I love the fact that Declan's story is full of tension and realism. A Vietnam veteran, he is an ordinary man who finds a rather unusual way to deal with his inner demons and war memories. I'm a little worried about the military vernacular, though. Thanks for a great review!

The book sounds interesting and pretty intense with all that smuggling, money, a war veteran struggling to make ends meet and coping with his life after the war and a homicide detective who seems to be a dirty cop. I will put it on my To Read List. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

This seems like a good read. "Vietnam veteran" had me confused for a bit. Thanks for the review.

I like your review, and I am sure I will like the book as well with its intensity, written in a way you forget it's fiction - that's definitely an invite to read the book.

Chills! That’s what I got when I read the opening line of your review. I’ll be adding this to my shelves to read in the future. I am curious as to how the main character’s feelings hint at racial discrimination.

What a great review, I can't wait to start reading this book. Stories like these sadden me that one person has to endure so much pain, yet go back to normal as if nothing happened.

Wow! This book looks so interesting to me. It’s not easy to be a soldier and I bet it wasn’t also easy for him to win the battle also.

A wonderful and insightful review, thank you for that. I don't necessarily prefer books about either war or drugs but this one sounds like it has the bones for a very compelling read. Congratulations to the author on BOTD, it sounds like it is well deserved!
