Being a government assassin must have certainly given Nick a degree of access to the authorities, which could possibly enable him to find ways of bringing down the human trafficking ring. Thank you for your thorough review.

“Death’s Companion” by James Meenagh is a crime thriller that has Nick Parker, a U.S. assassin for ten years, resign from his position. Nick then accepted a job with the Washington State CID in Seattle, WA. After Nick became tired of law enforcement, he left it behind and began rebuilding his mountain cabin that had burned down the previous year. This is book 2 in the Nick Parker series and it has plenty of action. One day he received a call from his former partner Reggie Flannigan who wanted Nick’s thoughts about a case he was working on that involved a Chicago gang called “The Disciples” that had expanded to Seattle and they were abducting teenage girls for a human trafficking ring. Reggie had been reassigned to security for a congressman, and he suspected the congressman could be involved along with a few law enforcement officers. This story will keep readers on the edge of their seats until they finish the book.

It seems like a good one to lovers of crime thrillers. Profanities, sexual con,and violence? I'll pass. Nice review though.

Human trafficking gives me the shivers, and I find myself already banking on Nick and his reputable skills in tracking down the " Disciples."
I appreciate Reggie's instinct and resourcefulness in adding Nick to his mission as a secret weapon to rapidly work on rescuing the kidnapped girls and targeting the human trafficking ring outside the confinements of the law.
Congratulations on BOTD!

"Death's Companion" by James Meenagh, the first book in the Nick Parker series, has generally received positive reviews. Here are some common points highlighted by reviewers:

1. **Engaging Plot**: The book follows Nick Parker, a former black-ops agent, who gets drawn back into dangerous situations after leaving the Criminal Investigation Division. The story is praised for its fast-paced and engaging narrative.

2. **Character Development**: Readers appreciate the depth and complexity of Nick Parker as a character. His skills and experiences are well-explored, making him a compelling protagonist.

3. **Writing Style**: Meenagh's writing is often described as crisp and vivid, effectively drawing readers into the world of espionage and action.

4. **Action and Suspense**: The book is noted for its well-crafted action scenes and suspenseful moments, which keep readers on the edge of their seats.

However, as with any book, there are also some criticisms. A few readers felt that certain plot points were predictable, and some secondary characters lacked depth.

Overall, "Death's Companion" is highly recommended for fans of action-packed thrillers with a strong lead character.

I love everything I read about the review, minus the graphic violence. Crime and investigative novels are my thing, even though I'm quite sensitive to brutality.
I'd love to read about Nick Parker's spine-chilling exploits in Death's Companion. And if what I read in the review is sure, then James Meenagh must be a masterful writer.

Nick Parker has an important mission to rescue teenage girls from human trafficking. Though it sounds like a same-old plot, I wonder how James made this book stand out. I like the outline of Death Companion but I am not a fan of profanity. I might have to skip this book. Thanks for the honest review. Congrats on the BOTD!
