Rickey was intelligent enough to discern the impact of the device given to him by Mr. Miter. Both men have plans and what could be the plans? I love the suspense part of this novel. Congrats on BOTD.

It sounds like a great book illustrating problems in our future. I like that the author has woven sci-fi and thrilling suspense into the plot. I hope the protagonist is able to outsmart Mr. Miter. Thanks for the detailed review.

Thank you for your informative review. While this is a genre that I occasionally like to read, it's not my favorite. I did find this interesting and from your review, I would like to know exactly who Mr. Miter is, how he knew who Rickey is, who took the pictures, and what is he up to amongst many other questions. I think I will add it to my list of books to read after your review has me curious for so many answers.

I like the world-building aspect of the novel since it is so intriguing to see the author's vision of how the Earth's future looks like. It's very interesting to learn that in this version of the world, society is mostly controlled by a few corporate giants.
Congratulations to the author for BOTD!

This review reveals a lot about this futuristic novel and the theme this story revolves around. I like the role of Rickey and would love to read the story to know how he keeps himself alive in those dire circumstances.

"Rickey Montey, Hero of His Age" by Richard Hamerski is a futuristic story that takes place in 2050. The world has dramatically changed and technology has replaced most human jobs. It is even a crime to speak badly about technology or computers and the American flag is banned in many parts of the country. It makes me wonder if I would want to be alive in 2050 but since I would be in my late 90s it probably would not matter. Rickey Montey is a young man that is struggling to survive and is trying to find a job. Rickey is offered a job to work for a very rich man, Mr. Miter, as his house cleaner. He takes the job and learns that there is much more involved in his assignments, including attending public gatherings to record and photograph specific objects, people and conversations. He is supposed to spy on people, obviously dissidents to the technology run society. What should Rickey do? Can he do this job or refuse and look for another job? Is it too late to change his mind? One must read the book to learn what happens to Rickey. Very good review. I am adding this book to my To-Read shelf.
