Multiple deaths within a single group of people, certainly seems quite strange. I like that the author has seamlessly added information about the more technical aspects of oil drilling without making it borring or confusing. However, I'm not too interested in the genre and will most likely not be reading this.

“Derrick of Death” by Malvina Lerma is a well written murder mystery. Charlie, a female oil rig manager, was recently hired by Triple Play an upstart company trying to enter the oil business. Charlie’s job begins ok but then she spots a body on the site. The dead body was Karen, the wife of Frank, one of the senior members of the company. It was widely known that Karen was an unfaithful wife. This is the second mysterious death since the group was formed. The story follows Charlie’s goal of finding the killer before others may die. This is a must read for members that enjoy female lead characters and murder mysteries. I am adding it to my to-read book shelf.

Great review! I am all for stories about women doing just as great or even better than a man in the workplace. This is a book that I will have to look into.

This well-written, cozy mystery novel seems like it has a strong main female character and that the reader learns about the workings of oil rigs. I think I will enjoy this book. Great review!

I was a little nervous about the technical aspect of the oil rigging becoming too overwhelming, but you explain that the author does this in a very clever way so we learn along with the characters. You have me very curious about the murder mystery and I'm looking forward to finding out who did it.

Exceptionally thorough and well-written review.
This tale sounds like a lot of fun. A novel that provides me a surprise at the end after the narrative is established is really essential to me because after reading a lot of mystery books, I find it impossible to avoid guessing who the bad guy is in the books.
Thank you for making the book of the day.

In the midst of the mystery, the story emphasizes the importance of trust in professional relationships. Charlie, as the oil rig manager, must learn who she can rely on and who she can confide in. As she teams up with George, the landman, there is a sense of unity and trust that develops between them as they work together to uncover the truth.

A captivating murder mystery with a unique setting. I'm glad to hear that the mystery aspect was well-executed and kept you guessing until the end. It's also great that the technical details of drilling were integrated seamlessly into the story. My recommendation will be helpful for readers who enjoy strong female leads and murder mysteries.
