“Plausible Liars” by Lin Wilder is a story about Joey who has been transitioning with puberty blockers and Testosterone injections for the past 8 ½ years and has decided she no longer wants to continue so she asked Dr. Lindsey to help her stop the transition process. Kate Townsend an investigative reporter who decided to write a series about transgender policies towards children. Lindsey told Joey she will help her and now Lindsey and Kate are facing federal charges for a hate crime for helping Joey stop the transition process. While Lindsey was away Joey is rushed to the hospital and is in a coma. Is it a hate crime to help a person detransition? This issue is in the news often due to the way states are handling transgenders.

I think this book was remarkable in the story that it was telling. These days apart from everything else gender identity has become a worldwide issue. Children or teenagers who always felt differently about who they are is a different thing but being taught all this at a pre school level is just horrendous. This will confuse children more than help them and I applaud the author to raise a voice on this issue.

The novel doesn't shy away from presenting arguments on both sides of the transgender rights debate. This even-handed approach allows readers to form their own informed opinions and fosters empathy for characters with differing viewpoints. Congrats on #BOTD

It looks like the book gives a narrative on controversial topics of transgender policies for children, how religion plays a role in it and parental consent. Thank you for your detailed review.

Plausible lairs is book which shows the very sensitive topic & how it affects the emotion. According to the review this book gives an in-depth issue related to transgender. It also shows someone to know that how the results come if helping is not really a mean to do. Very controversial topic is shown with an ease & it's affect in Catholics society & parental permission for the child.

We need more books that highlight transgenderrism, and this book does that. However, the fact that it may appeal more to Catholic readers than secular ones troubles me, as I'm not a fan of books that are heavy on religion. I'm keen to learn more about this story, so I'm adding it to my list.

Congratulations on the BOTD award. It deals with one of the current social issues. It addresses the practices of hormone therapy on children and the compelling account of a teen wishing to detransition.

As someone who is intrigued by stories that tackle contemporary social issues, this review of "Plausible Liars" has piqued my interest. It sounds like Lin Wilder has woven a compelling narrative around a very contentious topic, and I appreciate that the book appears to explore multiple perspectives on gender transition and detransition.

I am particularly drawn to the characters of Dr. Lindsey McCall and Kate Townsend, and the moral and ethical dilemmas they face. The inclusion of Father John and the influence of Catholicism add an intriguing layer to the story. It seems like Wilder has done an excellent job of presenting both sides of the argument, which is crucial for such a nuanced subject.

The fact that the book includes factual pieces and sources at the end is a bonus, as it shows that Wilder has grounded the story in reality, providing a well-rounded view of the issue. I also appreciate that the reviewer found the emotions relatable and the conversations passionate—elements that make a story truly engaging.

The themes and questions posed in the review—about children's rights to choose their gender, the role of educators, and the implications of detransitioning—are highly relevant today. This book seems like it will not only be an interesting read but also a thought-provoking one. I am looking forward to diving into "Plausible Liars" to explore these complex issues myself.

Since I am Catholic, the presence of Father John in this book means a lot to me. Gender detransition is a topic that would trigger a very heated debate between religious and non-religious people. I look forward to delving into intriguing topics like hormonal treatment. Great job!

Thank you for sharing that insightful summary of “Plausible Liars”! Lin Wilder’s novel indeed delves into thought-provoking themes related to transgenderism, ethical dilemmas, and the pursuit of justice. The intersection of medical mysteries and courtroom drama adds an intriguing layer to the narrative.
Life is a play where we are the actors and the audience, We laugh and cry, love and hate, create and destroy,
We seek to know ourselves and others, to belong and to be free, We accept what we can and change what we must.

The novel delves into complex and timely social issues, primarily focusing on gender transition, faith, and parental consent. Reviews suggest that Wilder’s storytelling is both vivid and thought-provoking, with well-developed characters and a narrative that integrates factual sources effectively.
The book has been praised for its handling of sensitive topics such as transgender policies and the role of faith, particularly Catholicism, which is woven into the story through the influence of a character named Father John. This element may appeal to readers interested in faith-based narratives.
However, it’s noted that the book's heavy focus on these controversial subjects might not resonate with all readers, particularly those not open to discussions on transgender ideology or religious themes. Despite this, the novel received high ratings for its engaging and respectful approach to difficult topics.
Overall, "Plausible Liars" is recommended for readers who enjoy medical mysteries with a strong dose of social commentary and are interested in exploring the intersection of medical ethics, religion, and personal identity.

This will definitely be an interesting read. I have a transgender friend and the process is quite emotional and challenging to say the least. With him, he knew that he wants to be a boy/man from a very young age but only managed to start the process in his twenties, which to my opinion is about the right age. There is however a big difference between transgender and them/they. I personally feel that the them/they situation is putting all us LGBTQ+ back so far regarding acceptance, as people just started to kinda accept the lesbian/gay/transgender etc. communities but now with the them/they's that is so aggressively forcing this down people's throats it causes confusion and hatered against all LGBTQ communities. I personally also feel that you can only be one, either male or female, you can't have it both ways genderwise. If you are interested in both male and female partners then you bisexual and that's 100% but that still doesn't make you a them/they. The problem also is that some of these youngsters are really taking things to far, for example the one day I say a teen trying to explain to her TikTok audience that you can now be classified as a season too🤦‍♀️. It's things like this that causes animosity with regards to acceptance. Thanks for an insightful review.
