It's too bad that this book started out strong and then went downhill, fast. I was really excited when you wrote that the backstories for the characters is done well, but then found out there is no development for them. Such a shame. I'm not a fan of finding out who the killer is half way through a book. Waiting until the end is what keeps me reading it! I'm glad you enjoyed the book overall!

Murder mysteries are fun to read about. I was quite interested in this book after reading your plot summary but since you rated it 2 stars, I won't bother. The concept sounds interesting but I suppose it's up to the author to skillfully deliver a well-written book that does justice to the crime-thriller genre. Thanks for your honest review!

Thanks to reviews I wouldn't read this book, because for me the best part of crime genre story is ending. And most everyone here referred to it as disappointment.

Nice review. I love a good crime/thriller murder mystery with lots of twists and turns. The fact that this book starts out so strong and the basicly flops is truly disappointing. I’ll be skipping this one. Thanks so much for sharing.

I agree that the first two chapters were quite captivating. I don't often purchase books, but was actually considering it for this one until I read your entire review. The synopsis you wrote had me even more captivated. Then I read the rest. It's good to know it loses steam after the free sample. If I'm going to read a mystery, I want it to stymie me and keep me guessing until the end. It's not a whodunit if you know whodunit. Thank you for your great review.

After reading only a few pages, my attention was caught greatly and I enjoyed the introduction to this story. It is a simple book that I would believe anyone can read, the story unfolds nicely. However, I felt in a sense that some characters felt flat. I would have enjoyed a more complex base to characters to compliment the way the story is told. Despite this, I would recommend reading this book too many people it truly captures the theme of mystery.

I read the first couple of chapters and am really into this book. Then I read the review and find out it goes downhill from here. That's too bad. I'm already into it and will continue to read, but I am hoping that I have a different opinion than the reviewer.

I dislike having to "think" when I'm reading so generally mysteries are not my chosen genre. The author giving it away mid-way through the book though, that's surprising! It's too bad it slowed down so much. Thanks for the review!

I have been spoiled by the best mystery writers, du Maurier and Christie, and I do enjoy quick entertaining mysteries. The sample of the book intrigued me. Your review has guided me enough, to decide that this book may not be for me. Thanks!

The story has a very masculine feel to it. The lack of character development would disappoint me as well. Thanks for the review.

Murder at a news studio. It seems that according to the reviewer story idea is great, but the way it was handled did not pan out.

I read the preview online and it seemed like an excellent book. Sad to hear that the enjoyment doesn't last for long. I like to be able to work with the cops in the story, solve the crime along with them and be surprised at the end so I will probably not be getting this book since it tells you who the killer is before anyone else knows.

It does sound as if the start of the book is really exciting, the way you describe the situation and mention that it takes many twists and turns. What a shame it becomes predictable - as you say, not good in murder mysteries.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

I too thought the first two chaoters were wonderful and were leading to a great mystery. I'm so glad I didn't go beyond that. Thanks for the warnings. I can't believe the author started off so strong just to have it all fall apart. I guess I'll pass in this one.

I agree - I kept hoping it was a trap, the way the author laid all the cards on the table and let the audience in on who the killer was. I much prefer feeling like an idiot because all of my guesses were wrong than knowing exactly who did it and why. I guess the grass is always greener! The opening few chapters were very well done, so I would try another book by Mr. Evans in the future.
