I haven't read any of the other book in this series but from what I've read of the sample reading, this book works well as a standalone novel. I definitely enjoyed the sample as this genre is my favorite and the author's writing style had me hooked right away. Thanks for such an informative review. I look forward to reading the rest of the book soon.

"This exercise proved to be both entertaining and educational."
Very insightful and well detailed review, I enjoyed reading through. I think this book would be worth the try if I go for it. Some of the social problems described are very relatable. Indeed, 2020 was a year history would never forget!

The sudden death of Kobe and Gianna was devastating to both basketball fans and non-fans. But 2020 had more shocking news for us all.

Gillam is a fantastic storyteller. I'm almost sure this book will be another winner.

I don't really like basketball ball but I'm glad that one can still enjoy the 4th book without having read books 1-3.

I can't say the subject matter sounds like a book worth reading to me, but your review certainly was worth it. I like your calm and easy pace of writing, combined with an accessible, yet clear vocabulary. I do wonder if there were any issues you encountered at all that bothered you since 4/4 stars is pretty much a perfect score. Good job!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting thriller focusing on two individuals with opposite goals: one wants to gentrify their neighborhood with a community center and one that does not wish to change the neighborhood. The book references multiple events in recent history. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

From the beginning the novel weaves several interesting themes including the mystery of the whereabouts of Hillary's mother, the concerns about mass shootings, and the tension between maintaining the historical buildings and tearing down for development. I look forward to finishing this book. Thanks for a great review.

A book with quotes at the beginning of each chapter sounds promising, especially if It is dedicated to someone Who passed away in such a tragic way. And with drama spicing Up the plot. I think I'll read it. Thank you for your insightful review!

Thank you for a great review! You definitely convinced me this is a well-written, interesting book. The basketball aspect is not my favorite, but I might still give it a chance!

This crime/mystery novel seems like it is well-written and thought-provoking. I like that this story covers some issues and current events we are dealing with these days. Great review!
